WHO IS GOVERNOR MIKE LIRIO

The Governor who will lead D3820 to greater heights in the great year of the Centennial in Rotary Year 2004-2005 is a CPA, a successful entrepreneur, and family man.

Michael Feliciano Ebron Lirio, a native of Tanauan, Batangas, is a seasoned Rotarian of 16 years, having joined the Rotary Club of Tanauan in 1987.

Enthusiastic Mike, as he is fondly called, has a sterling career in Rotary; which is why his nomination for the governor’s position is hardly a surprise to the Rotarians in the district. He’s been a director of his club continuously since 1988 until he became the President (RY 1995-96) of which he became an Outstanding President of the District. His club was also cited as one of the only Five (5) Outstanding Rotary club during his watch. He became Rotarian of the Year for 2 Rotary years, 1988-89 and 98-99. Two of his most exemplary achievement are; 100% attendance since he was inducted as a Rotarian and a consistent Presidential awardee every Rotary Year.

He has also served the district very well since 1996. To name some of the positions he has held:

bullet

District Governor’s Area Representative for Batangas-Mindoro (RY 1996-97)

bullet

Chairman-Extension (RY 1997-98)

bullet

Chairman-Rotary Information (RY 1998-99)

bullet

Deputy District Governor and Group Study Exchange Team Leader (RY 1999-2000)

bullet

Assistant Governor Trainor and Intercity Chairman (RY 2000-2001)

bullet

District Coordinating Chairman for International Service (RY 2001-2002)

bullet

Group Study Exchange Chairperson and “ON TO BRISBANE” Chairman (RY 2002-2003).

He became a Paul Harris Fellow in RY 1995-96, a Multiple Paul Harris in RY 1999-2000, and has received several District awards for his service in Rotary. Among them:

bullet

District TRF Service Award (RY 1999-2000, 2000-01)

bullet

Most Outstanding Deputy District Governor (RY 1999-2000)

bullet

Outstanding Service Award as District Coordinating Chairman for International Service (RY 2001-2002).

It’s hard to tell where he still can steal some time to serve his town, but he does. Since 1999, Mike has sat in the Peoples Law Enforcement Board (PLEB) of Tanauan City; was a member of the Tanauan Municipal Peace and Order Council from 1995-1999, and was a member representing the NGO in the Pre-Qualification and Bids Committee (PIBAC) of the Municipality of Tanauan.

But he swears on a stack of Bible that he will never enter politics, even though one brother had served as Tanauan Mayor, another is serving as Tanauan City Councilor and his grandfather by his mother side served Tanauan for 42 years as councilor, vice-mayor and mayor.

For this Certified Public Accountant is happy as he is, with his hands full, running eight thriving businesses: Melilium Distributors, Inc (President); Alasia Credit & Capital Corp. (President); Febron Property Marketing Corp. (President); Phoenix Security & Allied Services, Inc (President); Farmacia Evangelina Drugstores (President); Batangas Insurance Agency, Inc. (Treasurer); Gintong Ilaw Educational Foundation, Inc. (Chairman, Board of Trustees); and Lilyrose Educational Foundation Inc. (Member, Board of Trustees).

Supporting Mike in all his endeavors, and sharing all his achievements is his loving wife, Dr. Susan A. Lirio; and children Marc Conrad, Marielle, twins Mikee and Minnie, and look-alike Mij.
